Howick Historical Village

Last week the Year 2s went on a trip to Howick Historical Village. We played outdoor games and played with indoor toys from the past. We learned about the materials that were used to make the toys which are very different to the toys we have today.

Pacific Mamas

The Pacific Mamas visited the Junior School on Tuesday as part of our inquiry unit about different countries and cultures. The taught us their countries greetings, songs, log drumming, weaving and shared the legend of the coconut. Here are a few pictures from the day.

Baradene Visit

Last week a group of Baradene students came to visit Room 7. They came to ask us questions about our favourite story books so they can create their own for an English assignment. It was lots of fun reading together and we hope they return with their finished books.

Siapo Patterns

We have started creating our own Siapo/Tapa patterns (a decorative art and symbol of Samoan culture). We are in the early stages of drafting and experimenting with the different patterns. Stay tuned to see the finished product...

Cross Country

We had the most AMAZING weather on Friday for the Junior School Cross Country. Everyone ran their little hearts out and did themselves proud. Hugo finished 2nd in the Year 2 boys and Sasha finished 2nd in the Year 2 girls.
